Applications for the NITDA/Coursera Scholarship for Nigerian Citizens for the academic year 2023/2024 are now being accepted from interested and qualified students. Nigerian students who want to enroll for a Post-Primary, BSc, MSc & PhD degree program are especially eligible for this grant.

This scholarship is a fully funded opportunity given to qualified Nigeria Post-Primary, BSc, MSc & PhD candidates. This program is hosted by NITDA, Nigeria and sponsored by NITDA/Coursera, Nigeria. For a period of six (6) months, each scholar will have access to the Coursera license. Although students can only be enrolled in one certification at a time, scholars are expected to use this time to complete as many professional certifications as they can. Candidates must choose one certification program from each of Categories A and B that they want to enroll in.

The National Information Technology Development Agency is a public service institution established by NITDA Act 2007 as the ICT policy implementing arm of the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It has sole responsibility of developing programs that caters for the running of ICT related activities in the country. NITDA is also mandated with the implementation of policies guideline for driving ICT in Nigeria. It plays advisory role in copyright law by verification and revision of applicable laws in tandem with the application of software and technology acquisition. Majority of these activities are achieved through organization of workshops which cater for training needs of her staff, government functionaries and education sectors. Founded 18th April 2001.

Coursera works with universities and other organizations to offer online courses, certifications, and degrees in a variety of subjects. In 2021 it was estimated that about 150 universities offered more than 4,000 courses through Coursera. Ng and Koller started offering their Stanford courses online in fall 2011, and soon after left Stanford to launch Coursera. Category A (IT Career Pathway) offers a total of 19 professional certification programs to help you kick start a successful IT career. Each program comprises a series of related courses focused on providing deep knowledge and hands-on skills required for employment. When you complete each individual course within the program, you will earn a certificate of completion. However, the professional certification will be earned when you have completed all the required courses in the program.

Category B (Complementary Skills Pathway) offers 4 certification programs for you to choose from to complement your IT career skills and sharpen your use of digital productivity tools, entrepreneurship, or freelancing skills.
