Both PhD candidates and undergraduates are eligible for this program.
This Funded scholarship is an opportunity awarded to qualified domestic and international Undergraduates & PhD students. This program is hosted and sponsored by National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Taiwan. On the basis of the Admission Guidelines for International Students, the University will grant incentives to international students enrolled in a degree program at the University.
National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University is a public research university in Taiwan. It was created in 2021 through the merger of National Yang-Ming University and National Chiao Tung University. At present, there are 19 colleges, 74 university/college level research centers, and 1 hospital in Yilan. NYCU is one of six national universities in research selected by the Ministry of Education. The university is also one of four universities selected by the Ministry of Education to participate in the Global Taiwan Program. It is consistently ranked among the top three or four best universities in Taiwan in world university rankings. In the 2022 QS World University Rankings, it is ranked in the top 300 universities in the world and the top 50 universities in Asia. In the 2022 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, it is ranked in the top 350 universities in the world.

Requirement and Eligibility Criteria for National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Scholarships for International Students 2023:
- Applicants must be international students
- New students with outstanding grades who have not received scholarships or grants from the Taiwan government
- Review procedure: Each department shall conduct a review on the applicant’s past grades or research performance
- International student scholarships can only be applied by and given to current students of the University
- Applications for international student scholarships must be completed within the period stated in the regulation announced by the Office of International Affairs.
Scholarship Benefits:
The awards are divided into two categories, namely monthly stipend and tuition scholarship, as explained as follows:
- Monthly stipend and tuition scholarships may be awarded separately or
- Stipend are given monthly. The awards are as follows: Undergraduate student: NT$5,000–21,000/month, Master’s student: NT$7,000–25,000/month, PhD student: NT$10,000–30,000/month.
