Applications for the King’s College London Commonwealth Master‘s Scholarships 2023/2024 academic session are now being accepted from qualified international individuals planning to enroll in full-time taught Master‘s study at a UK institution.

This scholarship is a fully funded opportunity for Master students who are financially challenged to finish their studies in their country. This program is sponsored and hosted by King’s College London, UK. The Commonwealth Master‘s Scholarships are funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and are intended for those who would not otherwise be able to afford to study in the UK. They allow talented and motivated individuals to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable development.

King’s College London (informally King’s or KCL) is a public research university located in London, England. King’s was established by royal charter in 1829 under the patronage of King George IV and the Duke of Wellington. In 1836, King’s became one of the two founding colleges of the University of London. It is one of the oldest university-level institutions in England. In the late 20th century, King’s grew through a series of mergers, including with Queen Elizabeth College and Chelsea College of Science and Technology (in 1985), the Institute of Psychiatry (in 1997), the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals and the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery (in 1998). King’s is the fifth-largest university in the United Kingdom by total enrollment and receives over 70,000 undergraduate applications per year, making it the fourth-most popular university in the UK by volume of applications.

Intended Beneficiaries: Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships are for candidates from eligible lower and middle income Commonwealth countries, to undertake full-time taught Master’s study at a UK university. These scholarships are offered under six CSC Development themes.

As part of a partnership agreement between the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission and King’s College London, scholars who are funded on this scholarship receive support towards their tuition fees from King’s.

Scholarship Benefits

Each scholarship provides:

Approved airfare from your home country to the UK and return at the end of your award (the CSC will not reimburse the cost of fares for dependants, nor the cost of journeys made before your award is confirmed)
Approved tuition fees: full fees are covered by agreement between the CSC and the UK university, and scholars are not liable to pay for any part of the tuition fee
Stipend (living allowance) at the rate of £1,236 per month, or £1,516 per month for those at universities in the London metropolitan area (rates quoted at current levels)
Warm clothing allowance, where applicable
Thesis grant towards the cost of preparing a thesis or dissertation, where applicable
Study travel grant towards the cost of study-related travel within the UK or overseas
If you have children and are widowed, divorced, or a single parent, child allowance of £529 per month for the first child, and £131 per month for the second and third child under the age of 16, if you are accompanied by your children and they are living with you at the same address in the UK (rates quoted at current levels)
If you share that you have a disability, a full assessment of your needs and eligibility for additional financial support will be offered by the CSC

Application Procedures for the 2023/2024 Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships (how to apply):

Candidates must submit an application to the CSC and one of the nominating organizations listed below. After that, nomination committees will forward candidates to the CSC. Direct applications for these scholarships are not accepted by the CSC.

National nominating agencies – this is the main route of applications
Selected non-governmental organizations and charitable bodies

Each nominated organization manages its own selection procedure and can have further eligibility requirements. Candidates should consult the nominating agency for information on their specific application guidelines and guidance. The deadline for applications may be determined by nominating organizations independently.

In addition to any other applications that may be requested by the nominating agency, candidates must submit an application using the CSC’s online application system. Any applications that are not submitted through the online application system will not be accepted by the CSC.
