Requirements and eligibility criteria for Megatrends Afrika Fellowships 2024 in Germany:
- Applicants must be post-doctoral researchers from African countries working on Africa-related issues.
- Research proposals submitted by applicants must align with the specified topics of interest, including conflicts and armed violence, demographic change or gender issues, democratization, Africa’s international relations, regional integration, and the nexus between domestic politics and foreign policy.
- Fellows must be available for a period of two to three months between May 2nd and November 30th, 2024, on a full-time basis.
- Fellows must reside in the city of their host institution during the fellowship, which may include Berlin (SWP), Bonn (IDOS), or Kiel (IfW).

To apply for the Megatrends Afrika Fellowships in Germany 2024, candidates must submit their application via email to Megatrends-Afrika@swpberlin.org as a single PDF document. The application should include the following documents in English:
- A one-page letter of motivation.
- A cover letter (one page).
- An academic CV, including a list of academic publications, and a sample of 2 recently published research papers.
- Copies of relevant academic transcripts and diplomas (translations not required).
- A written concept note describing the applicant’s project, not exceeding 2000 words.
- The concept note should discuss the project/research topic, its academic and policy relevance, feasibility, and theoretical and methodological grounding.
- The scope and ambition of the project should be suitable for publication as a Megatrends policy brief or working paper by the end of the fellowship.
