The call for the R McDonald Fellowship applications is presently live, which creates a platform where early career fellows in the field of multiple sclerosis from low-income and middle-income countries to interact with research institutions in higher-income countries. McD International Federation McDonald Fellowships Fund Program 2024 is a form of exchange, where participants either develop the skills necessary for a specific task or contribute to a collaborative research project during their stay.

The McDonald Scholarship Fund Program is a set of two-year grants, which is about £30,000 per annum, for travel and living expenses, with an extra GBP 2,000 per annum supply provided to the university where the candidate will be hosted. It is expected that the student-funded at the hosting center will use some of the grant allocated for the second year to enable him/her to attend the yearly congress of the European Committee for Treatment and Research in MS. This postgraduate scholarship is a one-in-a-lifetime chance.

Requirements and eligibility criteria for MS International Federation McDonald Fellowships Fund Program 2024:

  • Applicants must have a postgraduate degree, at least an MSc, preferably a PhD/MD, in a field related to multiple sclerosis.
  • Applicants must be citizens of a low- or middle-income country, as defined by the World Bank.
  • Applicant’s research must focus on an area relevant to multiple sclerosis.
  • Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
  • Working or studying in a low- or middle-income country at the time of application.
  • Working or studying in another country on a project that began within six months before the application.
  • Studying in another country on a Du Pré grant project supported by MSIF.

To apply for the McDonald Fellowships, follow these steps:

  • Identify your project and field of interest.
  • Contact and agree on the project proposal with your host (project supervisor in a lab or clinic).
  • Complete all sections of the online application form.
  • After you submit, your Host will be contacted to submit a supporting statement using the same application form.
  • Ask three referees to send their reference letters to the official email: research@msif.org before the 30 June deadline.
  • Read the Terms and Conditions of the Award to understand requirements around reporting and payments.
