United Nation Junior Professional Officer Programme 2024
Under this bilateral agreement between the United Nations and the donor countries, applications are welcome from suitably qualified candidates to enroll in the United Nations Junior Professional Officer Programme 2024 for the UN Secretariat and associated entities. The JPOs are generally nationals of donor countries, although some donors also finance nationals of developing countries. The candidates should be young professionals; they usually have an advanced university degree and a minimum of two years of professional experience.
For developing countries and donors, it is another form of development aid through the United Nations System. It opens vast opportunities for on-the-job training in multilateral capacity building for young graduates and enables donors to contribute multilateral capacity development personnel to developing countries where they have no official representation. It also can support specific goals in promoting and advancing priority areas in priority countries.
For the United Nations Secretariat and the other Programmes/Funds involved, the JPO Programme is a significant opportunity for them to mobilize additional capacity development resources from some donors. It leads to an increase in capacity development professional staffing capacity and access to available human resources with the recognition of talent, up–to–date general or specialized knowledge and academic credentials, and the ability of the agencies to discharge more effectively increased and complex responsibilities.
