Joint Japan/World Bank Scholarship 2025
Young professionals who meet proper prerequisites from eligible developing countries and have work experience in the professional area of the preferred scholarship are welcome to apply for the Joint Japan/World Bank Scholarship 2025. Jointly financed by the Government of Japan and the World Bank, this scholarship grants full scholarship for an eligible master’s degree in a development theme.
Scholarships are offered in 42 participating master’s programs in 24 universities in the US, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Japan for economic policy management, tax policy, and infrastructure management.

Requirements and eligibility criteria;
- Must be a national of a World Bank member developing country.
Cannot hold dual citizenship with any developed country. - Must be in good health.
- Must have earned a bachelor’s degree at least 3 years before the application deadline.
- Must be employed full-time in a paid, development-related position at the time of applying.
- Must have at least 3 years of paid, development-related work experience acquired within the last 6 years.
- Must be unconditionally admitted (except for funding) to a JJ/WBGSP participating master’s program outside the applicant’s country of citizenship and residence.
- Must be willing to return to their home country to contribute to its social and economic development after completing the program.

Benefits:
Economy class air travel between your home country and the host university at the start and end of the scholarship period. In addition to the two-way air travel, scholars will receive a US $600 travel allowance for each trip.
Tuition for your graduate program
Cost of basic medical insurance obtained through the university.
A monthly subsistence allowance to cover all living expenses (accommodations, food, etc., including books). The amount of the allowance varies depending on the host country.

Application Procedures;
Interested applicants should follow these application guidelines:
- Avoid using mobile phones to submit your application, as the online platform isn’t optimized for mobile devices. It’s recommended to use a desktop or laptop.

- Only submit your application after receiving proof of an unconditional offer of admission.
- Submit just one application. Submitting multiple applications will result in disqualification.
- When selecting your master’s program, choose only from the options in the PARTICIPATING MASTER’S PROGRAM section of the application form.
Application Deadline:
Application window 1 will open from January 13 to February 28, 2025 at 12:00 noon EST.
Application Window 2 will open from March 25 to May 23, 2025 at 12:00 noon EST.
