Fukuoka City Foundation is delighted to welcome qualified international students for the 2023/2024 International Student Scholarships. This program is open to suitable candidates who wish to continue their undergraduates and graduates studies.

This scholarship program is full/partially funded and successful applicants are to receive an offer of 60,00-500,00 yen per month.The scholarships are provided by companies, groups, and individuals, as well as the Rainbow International Student Fund, to support international students enrolled in universities in the Fukuoka metropolitan area. This program is available for undergraduates and graduates students. It is sponsored and hosted by Fukuoka City International Foundation and is aim at alleviating financial burdens so that students may focus on their studies.

There are three types of scholarships, “Yokatopia Scholarship for International Students”, and “Future Development Scholarship for International Students”, and “Fukuoka City International Foundation Scholarship”.

  • Yokatopia Scholarship for International Students (includes work experience opportunity): This scholarship is for the international students who wish to work in Fukuoka. It comes with work experience opportunity at a local company.
  • Future Development Scholarship for International Students: It is provided by businesses, organizations and individuals, and allows the scholarship providers to meet the students face to face
  • Fukuoka City International Foundation Scholarship: You can receive the scholarship for 2 years if you are a graduate student (Master, or 4 years if you are a undergraduate student).

Requirements and Eligibility Criteria for International Student Scholarships 2023:

  • Applicants for Yokatopia Scholarship for International Students: Postgraduate students or undergraduate students in their second year or above, who are enrolled at a university in the Fukuoka Metropolitan Area and whose total received scholarship amount, including this scholarship, does not exceed the amount of the MEXT (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship.
  • Applicants for Future Development Scholarship for International Students: Students who are enrolled at a university in Fukuoka Metropolitan Area and whose total received scholarship amount, including this scholarship, does not exceed the amount of the MEXT (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship etc.
  • Applicants for Fukuoka City International Foundation Scholarship: Those who enroll in the following universities:
  • Kyushu University, Fukuoka Women’s University, Kyushu Sangyo University, Seinan Gakuin University,Nakamura Gakuen University, Fukuoka University, Fukuoka Institute of Technology, Fukuoka Jo Gakuin University (Undergraduate students or graduate students)
  • Total amount of the scholarship does not exceed the amount of the MEXT (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship
  • A person who holds at least N3 of JLPT or has an equivalent level of N3 Japanese ability.

Successful applicants must apply to Fukuoka City International Foundation through their universities/institutions in other to be considered for any of the Fukuoka City Foundation International Student Scholarships.
