The Miriam J. Kelley African Scholarship Grant Program 2023 at Michigan State University for prospective students are now fully open for applications and is designed to support international Undergraduates and Postgraduate candidates who wish to continue their educational pursuit in the United States.

This scholarship scheme is a partially funded opportunity that offers up to $1,000 for general expenses to qualified Undergraduates and Postgraduate candidates. This program is sponsored by Miriam J. Kelley African Scholarship Grant Program and hosted by Michigan State University, USA. This award is intended to encourage MSU African students (women are strongly urged to apply) to study at MSU and in turn make a contribution to the development of their country.

Michigan State University is a public land-grant research university in East Lansing, Michigan. It was founded in 1855 as the Agricultural College of the State of Michigan, the first of its kind in the United States. After the introduction of the Morrill Act in 1862, the state designated the college a land-grant institution in 1863, making it the first of the land-grant colleges in the United States. The college became coeducational in 1870. In 1955, the state officially made the college a university, and the current name, Michigan State University, was adopted in 1964. Today, Michigan State has the largest Undergraduates enrollment among Michigan’s colleges and universities and approximately 634,300 living alums worldwide.

The Miriam J. Kelley African Scholarship can make at least two awards annually of up to $1,000. The number of awards made and actual award amounts depend on the quality of proposals and the resources available in the fiscal year in which funds are proposed for expenditure.

Proposals may request support for tuition or for other educational expenses such as research gathering or dissertation writing. Personal, education related or family expenses will also be considered. Proposals requesting partial support to attend a professional conference will also be considered.
