Research Training Program 2023 at Monash University
Monash University is currently open for applications from outstanding and motivated domestic and international candidates who wish to enroll for Research Training Program 2023/2024 academic session in Australia. This program is eligible to Master and PhD students.
This scholarship is partially funded and successful Master and PhD applicants will receive a non refundable offer value of $33,000 annually Fees-Offset. The program is hosted and sponsored by Monash University, Australia. Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarships are provided by the Australian Government to support both domestic and international students undertaking Research Doctorate and Research Masters degrees.
Monash University is a public research university based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Named after prominent World War I general Sir John Monash, it was founded in 1958 and is the second oldest university in the state. The university has a number of campuses, four of which are in Victoria, and one in Malaysia. Monash also has a research and teaching cent .re in Prato, Italy, a graduate research school in Mumbai, India and graduate schools in Suzhou, China and Tangerang, Indonesia. Monash University courses are also delivered at other locations, including South Africa. Monash is a member of Australia’s Group of Eight research universities, a member of the ASAIHL, and is the only Australian member of the M8 Alliance of Academic Health Centers, Universities and National Academies. International students can only be awarded RTP Fees-Offset as part of a competitive selection process. Monash scholarships are very competitive and are awarded based on your academic record, any research outputs and prior research experience.
As part of this program, a RTP Fees Offset is available to cover the course tuition fees that would otherwise be payable by the student. This scholarship is also available to students undertaking Joint Research Awards when Monash University is the home institution.

Requirement and Eligibility Criteria for Monash Research Training Program 2023:
- Applicants must be either an Australian citizen, a New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian humanitarian visa holder, An International student
- Meet the eligibility criteria for admission to a research degree (domestic students only);
- Meet Monash’s competitive scholarship selection process requirements (international students only); and
- Meet Monash English language proficiency requirements.
Note that RTP Fees-Offsets cannot be transferred between higher education providers.
Scholarship Benefit
Successful applicants for RTP Fees Offset covers the cost of:
- Course tuition fees; and
- A single Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) policy for international students.

Application for graduate research scholarships is done at the time of applying for your course, unless you are already enrolled. Whether you are a new or current student, the same application process is used for both admission and/or scholarship via our Applicant Portal. You do not need to specify which scholarship you are applying as you are automatically considered for all graduate research scholarships (where eligible).
Domestic students applying for a RTP Fees Offset only and not a living allowance scholarship (such as a RTP Stipend) do not need to submit an application for a scholarship.
